  1. Add import feature after excel export

    1st idea: With ability to export to Excel, it would be great to be able to update the Excel file and then import the file to update. Simply state that the column headers must remain unchanged and coding should be able to recognize this very easily.

    This would be extremely helpful as many people (like myself) have iphones and ipads but work in a world where windows has a larger market. My work machines are on windows and using Excel I can make changes much easier than on my iphone or ipad. Having this feature also provides a work-around solution…

    Thank you for the idea.

    Importing from Excel file can be easily implemented if the app does not care about the input. However to delivery a good solution for the users without technical background, it will not be that easy as inputting in excel file is out of the control of OrgChart app, as following issues will be frequent:

    - Incorrect tree structure (parent and child relationship)
    - Incorrect number input
    - Columns may be different
    - …

    Even OrgChart does well to report all the input error to the users, many of the users will be in big trouble to adjust the input.

    It may be better to extend OrgChart to windows – another business.

  2. Contact - Org Chart Syncronisation

    If you update the Org Chart it updates your Contacts, if you update your Contacts it updates your Org Charts. Of course you can have a toggle in setup to turn on/off this feature.

    Thank you for your ideas.

    OrgChart for macOS supports to copy across multiple OrgChart files for the users with heavy OrgChart maintenance work. OrgChart on iOS and iPadOS does not include the feature now.

    OrgChart is used for business, considering business privacy; we have no server to store the data created by the users.

    The major focus of OrgChart is to help draw the CHART, but not to maintain the HR information.

    We may use the app to draw two charts for the same team to present at different meetings. For example, you show the team chart one way to the customer and show it in another way to your boss.

    If one day, OrgChart focuses on human resource information management, yes, keep the information in sync is the real need. Now, this app is focusing on helping drawing charts easily at a meager selling price.

    OrgChart is designed for TREE structure only. The design purpose of OrgChart is to help to automatically render the TREE structure organization chart by some simple properties. For a matrix structure organization, the app (and the computer) has no way to know where to put the departments and how to link them automatically by some simple properties, you have to DRAW them using a drawing app.

    OrgChart is to help the user be super productive in the case if the organization chart is a tree structure. For a matrix structure, there is no app that can help to AUTO draw the chart.

  4. Add a Lateral Horizontal Connection on Org Chart

    Love the program, but lacks one simple piece - a lateral connection. Adding that would make this program perfect and fully useful for large complex organizations.

  5. Horizontal / Peer adding

    I started at the top of an IT org and I'd love to add the business side by putting the business side peer right next to the top of the IT org. I haven't found a way to add a horizontal connection to the person at the top.

  7. Is there any way of drawing a Dotted line when a person or department has a direct line to different departments

    How to make direct or dotted lines that jump outside of departments and or the structure to upper echelon?

    Thanks the idea.

    OrgChart is for TREE structure organization only.

    (For the matrix structure organization, the computer has no way to know how to lay out the departments correctly, so the user has to manually lay out the departments – same as the drawing apps. OrgChart is designed for easy the creation of organization chart without drawing needs, it’s for tree structure only)

  10. Search & email function

    Is it possible to incorporate a search function for entering either name, department or position?

    From the details list for an individual, is it possible to “tap”on their email address and have the appropriate email app open (iOS) so they can be emailed directly from org chart?

    Hello,

    Thanks the idea.

    The “searching” and “emailing” functionalities will be very useful IF we are using OrgChart to manage CONTACT like using a HR system. Now OrgChart is majorly focus on organization chart rendering (to help saving the efforts compare to drawing organization chart using drawing apps). There are big gap between organization chart and HR (or contact management).

    We are also thinking if need to extend organization chart to be a contact management app – if so, these feature will be in.

  11. Sharing org charts

    I would like to be able to share my org charts with another user. Is this possible? I think it would be very useful if this function isn’t currently available.

  12. Freedom to move boxes around

    Great app! But it will be good if user can have some freedom to select the order and font for the text; ability to move the boxes around, the fixed tree templates are good for small organizations but when you are dealing with larger organizational structures the fixes templates just don't work. Take a look at the "Process Model" app in the Apple Store, you're app will be unbeatable if you can give the user the freedom to move the boxes around like in this one.

  13. PDF Export

    I spent the full day working on a very wide org chart. I like the app for the easy approach but I saw a big potential improvement in the PDF export.
    When exporting the chart as a picture it is ok because everything is exported in a single picture.. When exporting as a PDF the current chart, I'd like to have the document exported as a single PDF document even if it could be very wide ... I don't see the point of splitting the PDF in several pages other than for printing it on paper but even in this…

  19. Functional org chart.

    In addition to department, title and name. It would be awesome if we could add and display the functions the individual is responsible for.

    This could be in the form of simple bullets up to 10 lines would suffice. We loaded this information in notes however in this current app you can’t display them on the graphical chart.

    Function Also known as Accountability chart, accountable, task and duty list, responsibility or responsibilities matrix.
